Welcome to J.T. McClure's. A trendy New Jersey restaurant where all the young staff are artists-in-waiting. Playwright Chris Calloway (Adrien Brody from Summer of Sam), the restaurant's alcoholic bartender, is struggling to finish his autobiographical play about a white man who is in love with a black woman, but he just can't seem to find an ending. Chris' unresolved feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Leslie (Lauryn Hill), and the troubles this creates for his new girlfriend, Jeannine (Elise Neal from Scream), are preventing him from moving on with his life and finding the elusive ending to his play. As Chris questions the conditioning from his racist Italian father and the effect this has on his relationships with co-workers, a tragic incident at the restaurant brings everything full circle. -- (C) Palisades Pictures/Lions Gate Home Entertainment, 1998, USA.
